Sarah’s Big Girl Room

“My daughter, I look at you and I do not see the passage of time. I see my little girl playing dress up, running through the yard, playing on a swing. I will try and respect the fact that you are older now and that the decisions you will make are your own, but you must understand that to me, you will always to be my little girl. I may not be able to carry you in my arms anymore, but I will always carry you in my heart. ” by Jane Craft

Sarah turned 11 in December and her birthday present request was to update her room into a “big girl room.” I’ve got to admit, I found it extremely difficult to come to terms with the fact that she is growing so quickly. In fact, she has asked for a “big girl” room update for a while, but I’ve been reluctant to tackle that task. So, when she asked for this to be her present, I knew there was no way to around the situation.

Although Sarah is only 11, she has a mature taste. She selected the wallpaper, wainscoting, and wainscoting color. We used real picture frames as wainscoting and she loved it. What do you think?

Although her room is not complete, we have to add the finishing touches, it already feels so different, and, she loves her room. I’m not going to lie, I had a hard time removing her “little girl” room elements.

Let me know what you think. . .don't be shy.
