This quarter, I am taking a Toni Morrison course and a Rhetoric course where I am learning about Gorgias, The Sophist, Aristotle, Plato, etc. Interestingly, The Sophist remind me a lot of modern day politicians and the court system. The Sophist seem to be able to persuade an audience towards a specific argument and they can argue both sides. I have just begun my second week and I have a lot to learn, but one thing is for sure, words do carry weight and are powerful. Gorgias states that words and speech are as powerful as drugs. What do you think? I find it even more interesting that you can find Ryan Gosling and Channing Tatum utilized to evoke what these Rhetoricians had to say in memes. It sure helps to remember the key points of each reading I have to complete. Here is one:
