Rolling ladder Bookshelf Update

My bookshelf has been a work in progress for a while–and it’s still not complete–and I’m okay with that; or so I think–yikes, hair pulling may happen. I do, at times, feel a little frustrated–hence the hair pulling reference–with the process, but taking my time has truly made me appreciate my bookshelf even more. Furthermore, I’m extremely picky about the books I purchase so, with that said, it is taking me a while to fill these shelves. I’ve found all my books from different places, including the thrift store–at $.35 cents and 30% off–to the swapmeet and everything in between therefore, limiting my selection further. I believe my most expensive book is not really an individual book, but a set or a gold collection for $10.

We put in an electric fireplace and I love it! Honestly, finding one that was the right size with the right look at the price took me a while, but I selected this curved fireplace from the Home Depot. I think I was more afraid of how fake it was going to look, but I realized that they make these electric fireplaces so realistic. What’s the worse that can happen? You don’t like it, return it, right? It is a 35″ insert; my dad made a platform stand to lift it and placed wood around it to give it that built in look. I caulked the gaps and painted the wood black to make the fireplace look bigger.

My next step is putting in mesh or metallic detail on either side of the fireplace–which makes my husband super happy–not! Home Depot has a good selection. I’m not sure which I want yet, but below you will find a few inspirational pictures. I was sold on the mesh thing when Emily Henderson added that detail to her kitchen cabinets.

That is what I have so far. I still have to insert the screw hole inserts and must still complete a few more things, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Yay!

Thank you for stopping by and if you have any questions, let me know.

Let me know what you think. . .don't be shy.
