My 11 year old daughter has an assignment where she needs to read Elizabeth Bishop’s “The Fish” and Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song” to find quotes and acts of freedom then, connect them. I found this song interesting as I have never heard it. “Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery; none but ourselves can free our minds” can relate to so many aspects of our lives, not just the literal, but also those figurative binding chains.
