Did you know the fairy tales of today were really aimed towards adults? In fact, the Sleeping Beauty of today was originally called Sun, Moon and Talia by Giambattista Basile. This deep and very dark story includes a sleeping young lady that becomes pregnant, while “dead,” (necrophilia) and is awakened by her newborn baby, that sucks on her finger, looking for food, and removes the splinter on her finger, therefore, awakening her. How did she become pregnant? You need to read it to believe it!
The stories of today were once verbal stories passed down from generation to generation. Once written, there have been many adaptation, including the famous Grimm Brothers Collection and today’s Disney version. Interested in reading the crazy story?
